Making History Every Day.

History of SEVA FIL-AM LIONS

On May 18, 2018, The South Eastern Virginia Filipino-American Lions Club was chartered. On June 23, we held our Charter Night at the Holiday Inn, Virginia Beach, when all officers and members were inducted. Witnessed by about a hundred of our families and friends in the community, it was festive and celebratory! This was achieved through the support of Guiding Lion Dr. John Watters, President of the Thalia Lions Club.

The Benefits of Being a Lion

When you become a Lion, you become part of a global network of volunteers working together to make a difference. Here are just a few of the great benefits you can expect.

Join a Community of Good

There are over 48,000 Lions clubs around the world. Each is filled with people like you who’ve decided to take action and serve others. Lions form unique friendships and meaningful connections that can last a lifetime.

Put Leadership Skills into Action

A Lions club is a great place to develop your leadership skills and put them into action. Each club offers opportunities to lead, along with first-class training from our global association.

Access a Global Support System

Every Lion and club is supported by our international association. More than 300 Lions International staff members are constantly working on tools and technology to enhance your service.

Experience the Feeling of Service

At the heart of Lions clubs there is one constant: service. Giving your time and energy to others is a fantastic way to help your community. Yet, it also provides a great feeling for you that can spread and have a positive impact in your life and how you approach the world.

PROJECT BRIEF PROJECT NAME/PURPOSE: Kusina Ng Kalinga Marawi

PROJECT CODE: 02-SP-829-KNK

LOCATION: Seafood City Kitchen in Camp Bagong Amai Pakpak Elementary School in Marawi

BENEFICIARIES: School children affected by the conflict in Marawi

BACKGROUND: Together with DepEd ARMM and the Local Government of Saguiaran (6km away from Marawi), Team GK established its first forward base of operation for relief and reconstruction while the battle was ongoing. GK-KNK provided daily meals for the families that fled Marawi during the siege. As the conflict entered its final phase of armed resolution, GK found the opportunity to set-up a kitchen in Marawi itself in order to help rebuild the area. Seafood City, thru GK USA, funded the KNK Marawi operations starting schoolyear 2019. With the Virgina GK Team’s support, more school children will be fed. The Seafood City KNK Marawi kitchen is currently feeding 2,036 school children in the following schools:

1. Dulay Elementary School - 251

2. Nanapun Elementary School - 365

3. Tumaruman Primary School - 126

4. Marinaut Primary School - 175

5. Pag-asa Elementary School - 210*

6. Sagonsongan Elementary School - 909*

*Schools at temporary learning spaces in evacuation areas.

Ateneo de Manila University also helps fund the feeding needs. Today, this project has been moved to community-based kitchen from the school-based kitchen that it was before the pandemic!
